Jofra Archer, in full Jofra Chioke Archer, was born in Bridgetown, Barbados on 1 April 1995. Jofra Archer is a right-arm fast bowler who represents England in all three formats of cricket. Jofra Archer moved back to England from Barbados in 2015 and started playing for England in 2019. Presently, Jofra Archer is one of the most effective fast bowlers in the world. His career has been full of ups and downs due to injuries. However, he is wildly seen as the future of the English bowling line-up. In TATA IPL 2022, Jofra Archer was roped in by Mumbai Indians in the mega auction for a whopping amount of 8 crores. However, Archer wasn’t available for season 2022 due to his elbow injury.

Jofra Archer started off playing cricket at an early age of 8 years. He attended Hilda Skeene Primary school in Barbados and then Christ Church Foundation School in Barbados. He started playing for his school and won many matches foe them single handedly. In his early schooling days, Archer has interest in sports and was a long jump athlete. He didn’t have a smooth career as from the beginning he was easily prone to injuries that caused him some trouble.

In 2013, Jofra Archer was included in the West Indies Under 19 setup due to his remarkable bowling skills. Archer played three matches for Under-19 team of West Indies but later was ruled out of the team due to a back injury. He
remained on sidelined for almost 2 years and then moved to England in 2015. Chris Jordan recommended Archer to play for Sussex in the County Championship to develop and showcase his skills.
Jofra Archer made his first-class debut for Sussex in July 2016 and a month later he made his List- A debut as well in Royal London Cup Tournament.
Since his first class debut, Jofra Archer has played 43 first-class matches for Sussex and has taken 181 wickets with the best bowling figures of 7/67 in a match. Jofra Archer has also scored 1201 runs with 6 half centuries.
Jofra Archer International Career
Jofra Archer made his first International appearance in May 2019. Archer was picked up in the English squad for an ODI against Ireland on 3rd May 2019.
2 days later, Jofra Archer made his T20I debut against Pakistan on 5th May 2019.
Within Few days, Archer made a sensation with his lethal bowling skills. Earlier, he was not picked up in the probables for ICC Cricket World Cup team for England. However, later he was selected in the 15-member squad.
Jofra Archer played all the matches of ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019 and picked 20 wickets in the tournament. He also bowled the super over in the Final of the tournament against England and helped England in winning the title for the first time ever in the history.
In August 2019, Jofra Archer made his Test debut in the Ashes and picked 2 wickets in the match. In the third match of the tour, Jofra Archer took his maiden 5-wicket haul and ended up with the bowling figure of 6/45 in the innings.
Archer remained part of English for the complete season of 2020 and 2021. During which he played against West Indies, India, New Zealand.
In May 2021, Jofra Archer got injured during the practice session and was ruled out for almost a year as he went under surgeries to recover from elbow injury.

Jofra Archer has played in many International T20 leagues all over the world including Big Bash league, Pakistan Super League and Indian Premier League.
Jofra Archer was picked up by Hobart Hurricanes in the 2017 season of Big Bash League. He played for the franchise in two consecutive seasons and ended up as the one of the most successful bowlers of the tournament.
In the mega Auction of IPL 2018, Jofra Archer was roped in by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping amount of 7.20 crores. On his debut against Mumbai Indians, Jofra Archer picked 3 wickets in the match and won Player of the match award.
In 2018 IPL season, Jofra Archer played 10 matches and picked 15 wickets.
IPL season 2019 didn’t go down well for Archer as he only managed to pick 11 wickets in 11 matches.
