According to the man of the match, Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh’s stunning first-ever Twenty20 win over India brought back smiles to a team. Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten at 60 in the chase of 149 on Sunday. This was the first-ever T20I win for Bangladesh against India. They comfortably won by seven wickets. Mahmudullah finished the match with a six off the bowling of Shivam Dube. Bangladesh finished on 154/3 and went 1-0 up in the T20I series.
Against Bangladesh, India won all the five Internationals they played at home. Coming into this game, Bangladesh lost each of their last 8 international matches in India including seven T20Is.
The veteran wicket-keeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim said “In my 15 years, these last two or three weeks were the toughest that I have faced. Before I left Bangladesh, I said the only thing that can put us on the right track is if we can win a couple of matches or play really well. So this brings smiles and calmness in our team and the whole nation. That’s what we have done, and we will try to continue this form’’
He also said, “We are missing a couple of key players but the way the young players stuck together and the way bowlers bowled on this track, especially against India, it’s outstanding.”
