Royal Challengers Bangalore were one of the form teams of IPL 2021 for as long as it lasted. Their new signings and trade offs paid dividends. Glenn Maxwell, Kyle Jamieson, and Harshal Patel blended in beautifully. The one thing that RCB seemed to lack is the presence of solid Indian players in the top and middle-order. RCB will be keen to rope in few former RCB players into the setup in the next mega auction.

#6 Murugan Ashwin

RCB will be keen to rope in their former wrist-spinner in their ranks. Murugan Ashwin played for RCB in 2018. He did decently well for them in the couple of games he played. Ashwin might be an ideal backup or even the frontline option considering the waning form of Yuzvendra Chahal.

#5 Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa had one of his best IPL seasons in 2010 with RCB. He singlehandedly won games for them. Uthappa scored mighty impressive 374 runs at a strike rate of 171.55. Uthappa can lend a lot of solidity to the fragile RCB top-order. He was in fine domestic form, it is time teams trusted him to deliver.

#4 Chris Woakes

Chris Woakes is one of the most underrated players in the IPL. He keeps flying under the radar with his impressive performances. Woakes is a wily operator who can contribute handily with the bat too. RCB must look at Woakes as a backup for Jamieson or even look at replacing the highly paid Kiwi.

#3 Shimron Hetmyer

Shimron Hetmyer has finally shown glimpses of his immense potential in IPL 2021. He is striking at 204.87 averaging 84. RCB will be keen to have a player of his calibre who can be a worthy successor to AB de Villiers once he choses to hang his boots.

#2 Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey was the first Indian batsmen to score an IPL century. His IPL career started with RCB and that century in 2009 made him a household name. Pandey though came into his own when he switched to KKR in 2014. RCB needs a solid player like Pandey at number 3 to shore up their batting.

#1 Steve Smith

Steve Smith was part of RCB in 2010. He couldn’t quite make an impression back then. Smith created buzz when he started delivering for Rajasthan Royals. He was a big part of the Royals family up until the last season. Smith has struggled for DC in 2021. RCB will be keen to rope in Smith to guide their inexperienced batting order barring Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell.

Note:

We have complied a list of those players who probably might not be retained by their current franchise.
