Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, who has been retained by the group prior to the IPL 2022 big auction, said it was “heartbreaking” not to be able to keep their complete group of cricketers. Here is all about Rohit Sharma Feeling On IPL 2022 Retention.
Rohit Sharma Feeling On IPL 2022 Retention
MI secured 4 cricketers, the maximum permitted to any team before the big auction, including Rohit Sharma. The other 3 were Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kieron Pollard.
However, MI were unable to retain the likes of Ishan Kishan, Trent Boult, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya who have been crucial in their achievement in recent IPL editions.
According to Rohit, this year’s retaining was the “toughest” for MI, and releasing “gun-players” from their lineup was a difficult choice.
“As you all know, it was going to be the toughest retention for Mumbai Indians this year. We have had solid players, absolutely gun players in our squad and to release them is absolutely heart-breaking,” Rohit said.
Rohit, who was secured for 16 cr., did not mention any specific players, but he did provide enough hints that he wanted to keep players like Kishan, the Pandya brothers, and Boult.
“They have done some amazing work for this franchise, created a lot of memories. So, to let them go was really tough. Four players including myself – hopefully, we can form a good core and create a solid team around us,” Rohit said.

MI, on the other hand, will have the opportunity to repurchase the released players during the IPL big auction, which will take place prior to the competition’s 15th edition.
“The immediate goal is to form a solid team and that will start at the auction. We’ll keep an eye on who we can get in the auction, find the right spot for the right players,” Rohit said.
The IPL’s most prolific skipper did not fail to credit MI recruiters for their efforts in identifying talent and potential for the side.
“So yeah, our scouts are doing a fantastic job, watching talents in and outside India. I have faith and belief in them. They have done an amazing job over the years finishing talent. Hopefully, we can find some players that can form a good core,” added Rohit.
