According to the latest updates, the blockbuster Mega auction for IPL 2022 will take place in Bangalore on February 12th and 13th. The BCCI is also said to have discussions with all the franchises to finalize the major auction dates. Whereas the BCCI has yet to issue an official statement, it is fair to assume that the IPL 2022 Mega Auction will take place on the above-mentioned schedules.

The teams will be working hard to assemble a strong roster prior to the upcoming season since they will only be able to retain a max of 4 players. Although the majority of the franchises have kept their best deal, they would like to improve it by pulling in most of the auction’s hot picks.

BCCI To Discuss ‘Plan B’ With Franchise Owners Considering The Rise Of Omicron Cases In India

BCCI has called a summit with all franchise owners to examine alternative strategies in the midst of COVID-19 fears. It is evident that the Indian board would not want the IPL 2022 to be held from outside India, but concerns over the Omicron COVID-19 variation may put a stop to some of their preparations.

The meeting will be mainly introductory in nature with the BCCI on-boarding the owners of the two new teams – Lucknow and Ahmedabad. They are also exploring the idea of holding the whole tournament just in Mumbai and Pune or in the Gujarat cities of Ahmedabad, Baroda, and Rajkot if the Covid/Omicron situation worsens. The owners will be apprised of the alternatives as well as things to look forward to in the mega auction,” said various franchise owners earlier.

The two new franchises, Ahmedabad and Lucknow, will be constructing their lineups from the bottom – up, although they have been given the option of selecting 3 players from outside the major auction to ensure that they have a reasonable chance. Many players have been spotted shaking hands with new owners, but still, no official response from BCCI has yet been released.
