The Indian Premier League has finally kick-started and six teams have played their first games till now. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders have managed to win their opening games, while, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost their first match of the season.
The season has just begun and we have plenty of games to witness for the next two months. Let’s narrow down the best and the worst 3 players from every team. In this article, we will cover the studs and duds of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Studs of Royal Challengers Bangalore
- Virat Kohli
Skipper Virat Kohli is surely the most important player in the RCB clan. The Indian captain is the first player to score 6000+ runs in IPL’s history. Virat Kohli has decided to open the innings for RCB this season and fans are expecting a thunderstorm from their King this year.
2. AB de Villiers
The former South African superstar will be the ‘MVP’ for RCB this season. ABD carried RCB to their first win of the season against MI. He scored a blistering 48 runs off 27 balls. Virat Kohli will be relying on ABD to come up with the goods for the rest of the season as well.
3. Glenn Maxwell
The Australian “Big Show” has received one more life to display his mettle on this grand stage. RCB have shown their faith in Maxwell after a series of poor performances in the IPL. Maxwell performed decently in the season-opener where he scored 39 runs in 28 balls. Maxwell can be a clutch player for the Bangalore-based franchise.
Duds of Royal Challengers Bangalore
- Rajat Patidar
27-year-old Rajat Patidar was roped in RCB’s playing XI in place of Devdutt Padikkal in the first match against Mumbai. However, Madhya Pradesh’s batsman failed miserably to fill the role of a batsman. He scored only 8 runs while facing 8 deliveries. RCB won’t be relying on the services of Patidar this year.
2. Shahbaz Ahmed
Shahbaz Ahmed is not truly a batsman or neither an out and out bowler. RCB can choose a proper batsman in place of Ahmed. 26-year-old Ahmed got out for just 1 run in the first match. Ahmed’s chances of playing for RCB ahead this year are very slick.
3. Yuzvendra Chahal
Chahal was one of the most prolific bowlers for RCB in the last season. However, it looks like a tough road ahead for the Yuzi. He got beaten for 41 runs in the first match and also failed to bag a single wicket. Chahal is riding low on confidence this season and it will be safe to say he can come out as one of the duds for RCB.
