S. Sreesanth has always been a polarising figure. He attracted both eyeballs and brickbats in equal measures. When on song, Sreesanth set the stage on fire with his bowling exploits. He liked to intimidate batsmen with his fiery attitude. But he often went a mile extra in order to get under the skin of the opposition. He is a complete package and teams will be interested to pick him ahead of IPL 2021.
We at StumpsandBails believe these 4 teams will go for S. Sreesanth in the IPL auctions 2021:
#4 Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI Punjab had always fallen by the wayside during the death overs in the IPL. Their bowling depth was bolstered with the addition of Mohammad Shami and Arshdeep Singh. Chris Jordan was expected to shoulder most of the death over duties, but the pacer had a mixed season last year. KXIP will look to have S. Sreesanth in their squad to amp up their bowling. It will be a homecoming of sorts for Sreesanth if he makes his way into the KXIP squad, as he had started his IPL journey with them.
#3 Rajasthan Royals
If there is one team that lacks a quality experienced Indian pacer in their ranks, then that team is Rajasthan Royals. They had bowlers like Jaydev Unadkat and Varun Aaron in their ranks who were pretty lacklustre last season for RR. They will definitely be keen to acquire the services of a player like S. Sreesanth who could bring in the much-needed firepower to their bowling lineup. Sreesanth’s life will come a full circle if he gets picked up by RR as this was the team he last represented in the IPL before being suspended owing to the spot-fixing scandal.
#2 Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals have a strong overseas bowling line-up with the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje leading their bowling unit. But the Capitals team will be hugely served with an experienced Indian pacer in their setup. Who better than Sreesanth to fill that gap? Will Ricky Ponting, the coach of DC bet on Sreesanth during the IPL auctions, 2021. It will be an interesting one to know.
# 1 Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings have perennially been a strong batting force who combine their batting might with strong spin bowling resources. They have always lacked a quality seam bowler to attack the opposition. Sreesanth will be an interesting option for CSK, who can partner with Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur to form a mean bowling combo.
