Last season Prithvi Raj Yarra played for Kolkata Knight Riders:
In the ongoing 13th edition of IPL, injury to important players has troubled maximum teams. So far, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered the maximum with its two key players, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mitchell Marsh, being ruled out of the league. In the opening match only, Marsh got injured while Bhuvneshwar Kumar injured while bowling against CSK last week.
To replace Marsh, Jason Holder has joined the team already while SRH had to go with another blow with the news of Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Monday (05-10-2020). As per the medical team, it will take another six weeks’ time to recover from the injury. And as his replacement, SRH has selected another bowler Prithvi Raj Yarra.
The official Twitter handle of SRH confirmed the news and wished for the speedy recovery of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. In the last season, Prithvi Raj Yarra played for KKR and played two matches. In those games, he claimed a wicket and bowled five overs.
Since 2019 April Prithvi Raj Yarra hasn’t played any T20 match
The interesting fact is that Prithvi Raj Yarra has not played any T20 match since April 2019, in the last season IPL. However, his record is quite impressive. In 11 first-class appearances, he took 39 wickets at an average of 21.51. In 11 List-A matches, the 22 years old has dismissed 15 players, and looks an amazing prospect in the ongoing season.
In the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad, Prithvi Raj Yarra is picked as the third left-arm bowler and Khaleel Ahmed also included in the team. So far, in this 2020 IPL, Natarajan has impressed with his outstanding performance with the ball, mostly Yorkers. It was also interesting to see if the SRH management choose Prithvi ahead of Khaleel once he enters the squad.
However, the team of SRH definitely miss their top bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar after his stunning performance in the previous matches. On Thursday (08-10-2020), SRH will play against KXIP in Dubai and will try their best to win the match as they already lost three matches out of five.
