India and England will go head to head in a 4-match Test series starting February 5th in Chennai. England is generally one of the better-prepared teams who visit the Indian shores. India and England have match winners in abundance and it will be a closely contested series for sure. Both the teams are fresh from series wins on away tours. While India defeated Australia 2-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, England got the better of Sri Lanka by winning the series 2-0 on Lankan soil. The confidence of both nations will be sky-high. Here in this article, we have talked about Stuart Broad.
Stuart Broad has his say on the ING-ENG series:
Stuart Broad believed that India will be a difficult place to tour and add to it India’s confidence will also be at its peak. As a second-string Indian side defeated the Aussies at their fortress, The Gabba. The holder of more than 500 wickets, Broad also admitted that there were a lot of England players who supported India in the fourth Test at Brisbane. But then, Broad was quick to sound out a warning and stated that now India is their enemy and they cannot allow to “build up” India.
Broad was quoted saying, “This is not an easy place to tour, and India’s confidence will be sky high from winning at the Gabba to complete a series victory in Australia earlier this month. I can tell you that they had supporters within this England team throughout that decisive match in Brisbane. They are the World Test Championship leaders for good reason. But we have moved from being admirers to their enemy within a couple of weeks and what we cannot do is build India up in our minds. They are not impregnable.”
Broad lavishes praise on Indian skipper Virat Kohli:
Indian skipper Virat Kohli will be returning to the Test side after he had to miss out on the last 3 Test matches against Australia owing to paternity leave. Broad was generous in his praise for India’s batting talisman and skipper. He admitted that Kohli is one of the best cricketers that he has ever seen. But, Broad was quick to add that if England harped too much on India’s positives, then they would be defeated even before the battle begins.
Stuart Broad stated that England is entering the series in great form and concluded by saying, “Virat Kohli is one of the best I’ve ever seen but if we go through all their positives we will be defeated before we’ve even begun. We need to build on our own strengths. We are entering the series in great form ourselves.”
The series between India and England is expected to be a humdinger. And of course, the way Kohli performs will have a massive bearing on India’s fortunes in this series. There is a lot at stake for both sides as the dangling carrot of the World Test Championship beckons too. We can’t wait for the series to begin.
