The Indian national selection committee has officially announced the 18-member squad for the upcoming India’s Tour Of England 2021. The committee has picked two teams, one will be common for the Test and ODI’s, while another one will be for the T20I squad.
The newly appointed head coach Ramesh Powar is all set to return after 2 years after replacing WV Raman. In 2018 Powar had a backslash for not playing Mithali Raj in the T20 Semi-final against England – This incident has made a big negative impact and that made him resign as Head Coach.
The only Test match will be played on June 16th, 2021 at Bristol, 3 ODI’s will be played on 27th, 30th June, and July 3rd respectively. The 3 T20I matches will be played on the 9th, 11th, 15th of July 2021.
Well, a few interesting call-ups were made by the committee, Rajeshwari Gayakwad misses out and Indrani Roy is set to make a Test debut. Even Shafali Verma has got her maiden ODI call-up. Mithali will lead the Test and ODI team and Harmanpreet Kaur will be the deputy. In T20I’s Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the squad and Smriti Mandhana will be the Vice-Captain.
