India ended proceedings on a steady note against England on Day 1 of the fourth Test match in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Despite a half-century from Ben Stokes, the visitors bundled out for 205.
In response to England’s first innings score of 205 runs, India finished at 24 for one at Day 1 stumps after losing Shubman Gill’s wicket.

India were looking out to play and score more than 300 runs but England had staged a remarkable comeback. Snapping the trio of Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane within an hour.
On Day 1, Virat Kohli exhanged few words with Ben Stokes and today Stokes managed to get him out for a duck. Virat Kohli was caught behind the stumps by Ben Foakes. Ben Stokes clearly had the last laugh there.
India were 121 for 5 after they lost Rohit Sharma’s wicket. England clearly dominated the first two sessions but nevertheless it was again Rishabh Pant, who stole the show.
Continuing his form from Australia, team India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant unleashed upon the English bowlers. The young gun spared no bowler, including England’s star James Anderson, as he smashed a quickfire 100 to topple England’s well-earned lead. After missing out the century by inches in his previous innings, Pant finally breached the 100-run mark. Rishabh Pant was completely frustrated after he got out on 101 runs as he aiming for some big shots to add on the lead.
After Pant’s dismissal, Washington Sundar came into action and went onto score all important 60* runs for the team. Question stays on everyones mind that will Sundar play after Ravindra Jadeja returns from the injury.
India now has a lead of 89 runs with 3 wickets in hand. India might be aiming for a good 40-50 runs in the morning session tomorrow to easily win the match. India are now in good lead and Indian fans expect them to boss the match from here on. Former England players might not have any complains this time related to pitch too.
