India registered its first win against Bangladesh in the 2nd T20I by 8 wickets on Thursday in Rajkot. Now, both the teams are tied at 1-1. Batting first, Bangladesh set India a target of 153 runs. Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma completed his half-century and scored 85 runs in 43 balls with a strike rate of over 197.
Moreover, Rohit Sharma became the first Indian men’s cricketer to play in the 100 T20I matches. It will remain a memorable one in his career as he won the Man of the Match award too.
Along with Rohit, Shikar Dhawan too added 31 runs after they opened the innings. After the dismissals of both openers, Lokesh Rahul and Shreyas Iyer completed the task in hand by scoring 32 runs with 26 balls to spare.
Batting first, Bangladesh got off to a good start. But Mushfiqur Rahim, who played a major role in the victory of Bangladesh in the previous T20I match, failed to deliver as he was dismissed very early. The opening batsman, Mohammad Naim, and Mahmudullah chipped in with crucial knocks of 36 and 30, respectively, to help Bangladesh reach 153/6 in 20 overs.
However, India chased down the target easily. The final T20I and series decider will be played in Nagpur on Sunday.
