India Still On Top In ICC World Test Championship
The ICC World Test Championship is a league competition in between the teams for Test cricket which is run by the International Cricket Council.
In the recent Test match against New Zealand, India who is the number one ranked team and the current top-ranker of the ICC World Test Championship failed to add more points to their total after being whitewashed by the opponents in the two-match Test series on Monday.
Even after losing both the Test matches, India still remained at the top in the points table with 360 points. They won seven matches and lost two. And now with 64 points, they are ahead of second-placed Australia.
New Zealand On The Third Spot After Recent Test Series
New Zealand jumped to the third position on the World Test Championship table after whitewashing India with a 2-0 lead. They took their total points to 180.
Before the series started, New Zealand was in the sixth position having 60 points in their side. But their victory in the first Test match against India in Wellington gave the team another 60 points and helped them to surpass the Sri Lankans, who have 80 points.
New Zealand winning the second Test with seven-wickets over India in Christchurch added more 60 points, taking their total to 180. The 60 points that they got after winning in Christchurch match helped them to move over Pakistan and England.
Other Teams In The Points Table
Pakistan dropped to fifth place with 140 points while England having 146 points are now on the fourth spot.
Since the beginning of the World Test Championship, South Africa has been terrible, they occupied the 7th spot having 24 points on their side after a single win in seven matches.
The West Indies and Bangladesh are still at the eighth and ninth spot respectively.
