After the Day-Night Test match, India is going to play the first T20I with West Indies, which has been scheduled on December 6, 2019, in Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
West Indies hosted 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs for India where the visitors had outplayed West Indies in all matches.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police communicated with the Mumbai Cricket Association(MCA) to reschedule the match due to the lack of security on that day because it coincides with the death anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on that day and also is the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition. Mumbai Police, therefore, don’t want to take any chances on that day owing to law and order issues.
For Mumbai, this will be the first international match after two years. Mumbai hosted its last international game in 2017 with Sri Lanka.
Mumbai cricket association(MCA) suggested that the Mumbai Police provide 25% of the security and rest would be made up of privately hired security.“But any such move would need the go-ahead from Mumbai police and modalities can only be worked out after meeting with senior police officials,” an MCA official said.
If there is any possibility that the match will not be in Mumbai, it will be swapped with Hyderabad. If it’s in Hyderabad, then the 3rd T-20 will be played in Mumbai.
