At the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, Rishabh Pant regained his lost form as he scored his maiden ODI fifty in the first game against West Indies.
The wicket-keeper batsman, who is facing criticism, was judicious throughout the innings with his choice of shots and got to fifty off 49 balls to his maiden ODI.
Rishabh Pant had managed only one half-century before. At an average of 23.55 in the 9 ODIs, Pant has scored only 188 runs in this format.
In 2019, he played in 16 T20Is at an average of 21.00 and a total of 252 runs with 65* being his highest score.
Though Pant has two Test centuries, his ODI record has not been impressive in England and Australia. His record of ODI reads 228 runs with the best show in ten innings -48 against Bangladesh earlier this year in Birmingham, coming in a winning cause.
Pant was called in place of Dhoni but his performance not satisfactory owing to which the name of KL Rahul was being suggested by Ravi Shastri as another option to keep wickets during T20 World Cup.
Throughout this year, Rishabh Pant was guilty of giving away his wicket by playing rash shots and as a result, fans started to troll him whenever he didn’t fire.
