Former batsmen WV Raman believes that Shikhar Dhawan should focus more on regaining his consistency back and Prithvi Shaw to do the same as his opening partner for the Sri Lanka series, also to score runs against an International tour will be a huge task to remember. let’s look at India vs Sri Lanka Tour.
India vs Sri Lanka Tour
Shaw was dropped from the national side, despite a poor effort in the Australia series, but he really has now scored adequate runs to reclaim his spot in the national limited-overs selection.
Shaw hit 827 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and afterward 308 runs in 8-games for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL this year, which was halted because of the Covid-19 outbreak. Shaw will get the potential to gain more in the forthcoming India-Sri Lanka series, which begins on July 18 with the first ODI.
Former India player as well as Tamil Nadu great WV Raman believes the Sri Lanka trip would provide Shaw with another chance to score runs as he has in previous months.
“He is a quality player and this tour is an opportunity for him to score runs against an international side,” Raman said in an interview.
This tour would be very crucial for not only Shaw but also his batting partner and captain Dhawan. As the draws were released by the ICC, the tour for Sri Lanka led by Dhawan would be a great opportunity for him. As he will mix up with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the T20 World Cup -2021.
Shikhar makes the best possible use of these matches: Raman
“In Shikhar’s case, it is a matter of maintaining his competitive edge, waiting and seeing how things turn out. Unlike the others, Shikhar needs to be a little more patient and try and ensure that he makes the best possible use of these matches and puts the ball in the selectors’ court,” said the former India opener.
For Rahul Dravid, the tour is important since he makes his ‘debut’ as the Senior National Team Head Coach. Raman said that Dravid was the perfect guy to take the national team ahead in the future because he had managed India ‘A’ teams and under-19 teams and had taught many youngsters in the past.
“It (Dravid becoming a full-time coach) is likely to happen. When this will happen, nothing can be said about it, but I would be surprised if it does not happen in the near future”.
“Ranatunga has been an integral part of Sri Lanka’s success and within his limits his own cricket board and cricket system to express his dismay in any way. But when he starts describing a visiting team or members of the visiting team, he should probably choose a little bit,” Raman said.
