The agenda for Indian players in the upcoming months would be packed tightly in preparation for the T20 World Cup, which will be contested in Australia. Upon concluding the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 edition, the Men in Blue shall host South Africa in 5 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), followed by international tours. India to visit England, Ireland, the West Indies, Zimbabwe, and the United Arab Emirates (for Asia Cup). Here in this article, we have mentioned IND vs IRE T20I Series India’s Second-String Squad To Face Ireland updates.
According to the latest news, India would almost certainly deploy 2 teams at the same time. Whereas the first squad will face England in the postponed 5th Test, a 2nd-string squad will tour Ireland for 2 Twenty20 Internationals on June 26 and 28. Interestingly, the postponed 5th Test will begin at Edgbaston on July 1. The contest was reportedly set for last year but was delayed owing to the COVID-19 concerns.
We’re set for the biggest home international season: Cricket Ireland
“We are delighted to welcome back India Men’s team for the first time since 2018, as well as the number one-ranked ODI side the Black Caps, who were last here in 2017,?, said Ireland Cricket CEO, Warren Deutrom.
“Just as important, given we will shortly be heading to a T20 WC, are the two T20I series against South Africa and Afghanistan. Our thanks goes to Gloucestershire Cricket Club for agreeing to host the South African series. We decided to postpone both this year’s planned tour to Zimbabwe in April and the home Bangladesh series into 2023. Even with these changes, we’re still hosting a record amount of men’s cricket against some of the world’s top teams this year with more exciting announcements to come around our women’s fixtures.”
As a result, key players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja may opt-out of the Ireland T20Is, as the 2nd team will take the field. The selectors may be forced to pick an inexperienced skipper. Players of the Ireland series would represent the white-ball team in England since England also will welcome India in 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is greatly worried about bio-bubble fatigue due to a busy schedule. However, Indian players would be allotted rests whenever necessary.
“The discussions on bio-bubble breaks have already started. Every player has been communicated about the busy itinerary. They have been given time to think about when they would like to take a break,” a BCCI official.
“It’s likely a depleted side will travel to Zimbabwe. Ideally, the Asia Cup will be the right tournament to play the first team, in order to get combinations right before the T20 World Cup,” added the official.
