Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had a series to remember ‘Down Under’. The veteran bowling sensation culled the roots of Australia’s batting attack. Adding to that, the 34-year-old displayed a heroic batting stint in the third Test at Sydney to halt the Baggy Greens for a draw. Ashwin was recently named in India’s 18-member squad for their upcoming four-match Test series against England, starting on February 5th.

Ashwin, being a legendary Test bowler, also comes handy with the bat in the red-ball format. The Delhi Capitals’ spinner, now, has a huge opportunity to better the records of some of the batting legends of India and England. If R Ashwin manages to score a 50 or above score in the upcoming Test series against England he will surpass the likes of Virender Sehwag and Nasser Hussain in terms of half-centuries in India vs England Tests.

It will be a huge feat for Ashwin, who is primarily known for his bowling exploits. Both Sehwag and Hussain have six fifty-plus scores to their account across India vs England Tests. Ashwin, too, has registered a total of six Test half-centuries while playing for India against England. Ashwin stands a strong chance to break the respective records held by the legendary Test batsmen.

Ashwin boasts an impressive Test batting record against England as he has scored a total of 781 runs in 25 Test innings. Ashwin has maintained a stunning average of 39.05 against England. Ashwin’s knock of 91* remains his highest score against England in a Test match.
