Indian captain Virat Kohli’s effort in the 1st innings of the 4th Test at the Kennington Oval in London wowed Michael Vaughan. India were bowled out for 191 on Thursday, 02nd September, although Kohli and Shardul Thakur stole the spotlight with brilliant half-centuries. The upper and middle orders of India pretended to be deceived, whereas Kohli stayed firm. Here is Vaughan On Kohli performance In Oval Test

While quick bowler Ollie Robinson took his wicket, the 32-year-old hit 50 runs off 96 balls with 8 fours. It was also Virat’s 2nd half-century in the series, which came despite criticism of his off-stump deficiencies. Did not even make many mistakes, Virat was penalized, according to Vaughan.
“I thought Virat played beautifully. I think with Virat now, he is playing well enough. I think he is getting penalized for the smallest mistake. He just played across the line, just a little bit and he got penalized. He is just going through one of those periods where one little mistake is costing him,’’ Vaughan said.
If one individual gets a 100 for their team that team will go on to win the Test match: Vaughan
Kohli has recently been under pressure for his inability to hit a century in the previous 2 years. Furthermore, if Kohli keeps performing as he did at Headingley or in the current Test, Vaughan believes the magical tonne is just around the horizon.
In a low-scoring match, Vaughan believes that if even a single batter goes on to hit a home run, his side has a strong chance of winning.
‘’If he continues playing like this or like in the 2nd innings at Headingley, that 100 is right around the corner. I think he might be the difference between the two sides in this Test match because from now on if one individual gets a 100 for their team that team will go on to win the Test match,” he added.
With 7 wickets remaining in their 1st innings, England are behind by 138 runs at the end of Day 1. Both Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed, the openings for the Three Lions, were replaced by Jasprit Bumrah. Joe Root’s finest wicket was taken by Umesh Yadav.
