Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan is the new No. 1 T20I batter in the ICC rankings, ending skipper Babar Azam’s spell at the top. Rizwan’s match-winning scores of 78* off 57 against Hong Kong in the group stage and 71 off 51 against India in Super 4s of the Asia Cup helped him earn his career-best 815 points.
Rizwan has taken the top spot for the first time, and he is just the third Pakistani batter to do so, following Babar, who topped the table for 1155 days in total, and Misbah-ul-Haq, who topped the table for 313 days from April 20, 2008 to February 27, 2009.

Pathum Nissanka of Sri Lanka rose one spot to No. 8 after an impressive run of form in the event. He has scored 20, 35, and 52 in his previous three outings, with the half-century propelling Sri Lanka to a 174-run victory over India on Tuesday and moving the team closer to the final spot.
Nissanka’s opening partner Kusal Mendis also made significant progress, climbing 63 places to 41st following a strong 57 off 37 balls. Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka has risen 11 places to 39th, and middle-order batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa has risen 31 places to 68th.
India skipper Rohit Sharma jumped four places to 13th after reaching 72 off 41 against Sri Lanka, while Virat Kohli jumped to 29th following his 44-ball 60 against Pakistan.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Afghanistan’s 20-year-old batsman, who hammered a 45-ball 84 in a losing cause against Sri Lanka in the Super 4 match, also climbed 14 spots to 15th place.
Offspinner Maheesh Theekshana climbed five positions to No. 8, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman climbed three places to No. 6. With seven wickets from three games as of Wednesday, he is tied for the most in the Asia Cup with Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz.
Australia’s David Warner moved up to sixth place in the ICC men’s ODI batting rankings, while New Zealand captain Kane Williamson joined the top 10 with a one-spot jump during the first of three ODIs between the two nations in Cairns on Tuesday.
Mitchell Starc of Australia and legspinner Adam Zampa of Australia have moved up to 12th and 18th rank among the bowlers, respectively.
