Ravi Shastri’s term as India’s head coach ended as the team failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup in 2021. They were unable to advance to the next stage of the event, finishing 3rd on the group 2 standings list. However, Shastri had an exciting career with the men in blue, winning some historic bilateral triumphs along the way.
Before taking over as head coach of the Indian squad, Shastri was well-known for his live commentary abilities. He was among the most recognized voices behind the box, and Indian fans will never forget his remarks when India won the World Cup in 2011, with MSD concluding with a blazing six.
It feels good, I’ll keep that one area: Ravi Shastri
He has recently stated that he would want to do commentary once more, and he may be seen doing so in the final Test between India and England, which was delayed because of the COVID-19 concern in the Indian camp.
“I mean, if you look at, if you want the real highlights, nothing beats Australia. England, we’re up in the series. It will be the longest time we’ll be up in the series until next year. I might be commentating on that game for all you know, but I’ll keep that one area. It feels good,” said Ravi Shastri, while suggesting that he would take the mic in the postponed 5th Test between India and England in the upcoming year.
Going on, Shastri was asked during the press conference how he deals with all of the jokes and memes that surround him. The departing coach addressed the topic calmly, adding that it doesn’t matter if people laugh and have some fun at his expense; let them enjoy themselves.
“It’s banter all the way, they do it to have fun at my expense, I will take a laugh yaar, have a drink in my name. Kya farak padta hai, Main nimbu paani piyunga or I will have milk and honey, you have a drink, enjoy karo na at my expense,” he added.
