IND vs AUS: Rishabh Pant didn’t want to encourage Wade
26-year-old gloveman Rishabh Pant loves a healthy battle, especially in a Test match against the Aussies. During the last time around, Rishabh Pant got under the skin of Australia’s skipper Tim Paine by referring to him as a “temporary captain”. Tim Paine, on the other hand, called Rishabh Pant a “baby sitter”.
Something similar happened this time as well when batsman Matthew Wade got frustrated with Risbhah Pant’s constant chortles from behind the stumps and ended up calling the Delhi Capitals’ star “overweight. However, Pant didn’t counter to Wade’s comments during the match. The southpaw has now stated the reason behind him not replying to the Australian batsman’s taunts.
“I enjoy every bit of that. I think he (Matthew Wade) was looking for some banter so that he can concentrate more but I didn’t give him that,” Pant told the official broadcasters. Pant didn’t want to motivate Wade with his words when Australians were seemingly struggling to face the Indian bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja later picked-up Wade’s wicket when the batsman was in his 40s.
