Indian captain Virat Kohli has been under fire from all corners of the cricketing globe following his team’s loss in the ICC World Test Championship final. Former fast bowler of West Indies, Michael Holding is the latest cricket expert to comment on India’s captain. Let’s discuss Michael Holding Suggestion To Virat Kohli.
Michael Holding Suggestion To Virat Kohli
Holding, a former cricketer who now works as a commentator, offered his thoughts on Kohli’s energy on the field, saying that it may affect his teammates. The renowned bowler also stated that he believes the Indian captain sometimes occasionally carried away. Kohli was spotted on the cricket pitch during the ICC WTC Final, celebrating enthusiastically and at times insulting the Blackcaps batters.
“Virat Kohli is someone who wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s someone who will let you know exactly how he feels. I think he gets a bit carried away at times, but that is Virat Kohli, that is the man,” Holding said during a Media interaction. Kohli, according to the former fast bowler, is comparable to his teammate Sir Vivian Richards when it comes to expressing oneself.
Virat Kohli Is Similar To Viv Richards In That Regard: Michael Holding
“He’s similar to Viv (Richards) in that regard. Viv, sometimes on the field, was over-expressive. But those are the personalities of those two gentlemen,” Holding.
Kohli’s teammates, according to the ex-cricketer, are anxious because of his attitude. He encouraged Kohli to tone it down immediately to let his team relax in the midst of the game.
“As far as his captaincy, I’ve only seen India when they were touring England and I saw them in South Africa. The only thing I’d say about Virat is that he has to tone down a bit so his team can relax because a lot of them, I think, are on tenterhooks,” said Michael Holding.
Holding also discussed the rise in prominence of Indian cricket. In comparison to their contemporaries in the past, he claims that Indian cricketers are much-fitter. He also reasoned that the pitches in domestic cricket in India have significantly improved which has allowed players to hone their skills properly and become better.
