Hazlewood, who had previously withdrawn from the event due to bio-bubble circumstances, will again be available for his side.“It’s been a long 10 months in bubbles and quarantine at different times, so I decided to have a rest from cricket and spend some time at home and in Australia in the next two months,” Hazlewood had said before the start of IPL 2021.
BCCI has confirmed that players who were not available in the 1st phase can join the 2nd phase: Viswanathan
Furthermore, CSK CEO KS Viswanathan has assured his presence for the 2nd leg of the competition.“Hazlewood has confirmed his availability for the second phase of IPL starting from September 19. The BCCI has confirmed that players who were not available in the first phase can join the respective teams in the second phase if they are fit and available. Considering Hazlewood’s form, he will be a great addition to our team,” said Viswanathan.
Hazlewood, one of 15 players named to Australia’s T20 World Cup team for 2021, has been in excellent form recently. Despite the fact that Australia dropped both of their recent five-match T20I series against West Indies and Bangladesh 1-4, the 30-year-old pacer performed admirably with the ball, taking 8 wickets in 4 games versus Bangladesh. Hazlewood has 21 wickets in 17 games over the course of his career.
CSK and MI arrived in the UAE on August 13 and finished their 6-days hotel quarantine in preparation for the tournament’s 2nd leg. The 2 teams will face off on September 19, which will kick off the 2nd leg’s activities.
The remaining 31 matches, involving 4 playoff games, will be held in the emirates at 3 different places: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. The Delhi Capitals were in first place with 12 points from 8 games before the season was suspended in May, headed by CSK and RCB in second and third place, respectively, with 10 points from 7 games.
