Gambhir: War On Corona Not Over
Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir has slammed people who fired crackers during the Sunday blackout, during which the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked all the people in the country to put out lights.
The Prime Minister appealed to the citizens to switch off lights for 9 minutes at 9 in the night on Sunday and light diyas or candles or torches to show solidarity in fighting the corona virus.
However some people went overboard on Prime Minister’s instructions and fired crackers. This has apparently not gone well with former left-handed batsman Gambhir.
The feisty BJP M.P. who reacts on most issues took to his Twitter and commented that the war on the corona virus is not over and people should not fire crackers.
He tweeted, “We are still in the middle of a fight Not an occasion to burst crackers. #IndiaFightsCorona.
Harbhajan: There is No Cure For Stupidity Of People
His former teammate Harbhajan Singh was also not happy with people celebrating the blackout with crackers. Also there were reports that fire broke out in a building in Delhi on Sunday due to firing of crackers.
The off-spinner said on his Twitter that there is no cure for stupidity of people referring to the act of bursting crackers.
He attached the video of the building burning due to the fire accident from crackers and tweeted, ” We Will find a cure for corona but how r we gonna find a cure for stupidity.”
Meanwhile many cricketers including the great Sachin Tendulkar, opener Rohit Sharma, Indian Captain Virat Kohli and young all-rounder Hardik Pandya followed Prime Minister’s suggestion and joined millions of Indians in lighting lamps, candles and diyas to show their support for fighting the corona threat.
India has reported nearly 4,000 positive cases of corona until now according to the latest reports with around 109 deaths. 693 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
