Peter Fulton has quit as New Zealand’s batting coach:
On Thursday, the New Zealand cricket board said that Peter Fulton, who is the batting coach of New Zeland quit the job to become the head coach of the men’s team of Canterbury.
Fulton is a former international cricketer, played in 23 Test matches, and 49 ODIs for New Zealand team. Then he became the batting coach of the national team in 2019 August and traveled to Australia and Sri Lanka along with the home tours against India and England.
Fulton said that it has no doubt that he enjoyed the time being a part of the national team but the offer from Canterbury was difficult to ignore.
In a statement, he said “It is been a really big honor to be part of the national team and I would like to thank the cricketers and also the staff for making me feel so good. Canterbury’s role as a head coach is suitable for my goals and further my improvement in cricket.”
He added “The opportunity to spend maximum time at home with family and train my home country were also the encouraging elements to apply for this job.”

General Manager of NZC, Bryan Stronach congratulated him for this new job and wished him success. He said “Fulton is a highly respected person who has done a lot for BLACKCAPS and makes a strong bonding with the team in his time. He has made a very inspiring path as a coach, starting from the Under 19s of New Zealand to the winter training teams and now he is going to be a head coach role.”
“With the New Zealand players entering a winter period at home, we will take a certain time to think about our options for the replacement of Fulton.” Peter will start his journey with Canterbury Cricket on 1st August.
