Ravichandran Ashwin had a day to remember on Day 2 of India vs Australia first Test at Adelaide. Ashwin reached his career’s best on Australian soil as his spell of 55 runs for 4 wickets dismantled the hosts. Ashwin, while speaking about his performance, stated that he felt as if he is making his debut in the Tests. The Virat Kohli-led Indian side scored a total of 244 runs in the first innings and managed to halt the Australians for a total of 191 runs. Indians entered the second innings with a lead of 53 runs, credits to the exceptions bowling by the visitors.

Ravi Ashwin speaks about his return to International cricket
Ravi Ashwin changed the dynamics of the game by clinching the wicket of Steven Smith in his very first over. He later went on to dominate the Aussies with his impeccable spin bowling. It will be safe to say Ravi Ashwin single-handedly changed the direction of the game by getting rid of the brilliant Steven Smith. The 34-year-old was glad to represent his country again post the deadly Coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

“I am so happy that we are playing Test cricket again. It’s been a long time and I didn’t imagine that we will be playing Test cricket looking at what’s happening around,” Ashwin said during a virtual press conference. “Me being extremely mad about the sport, did a lot of work during the lockdown. So it was refreshing to go out there and bowl, the feeling was great, the pink-ball Test and all that new thing about the pink ball,” he added.
“Felt amazing to go out there and play. I felt I was making my debut all over again so I really enjoyed bowling. Obviously, Smith’s wicket was a big wicket. The way he bats, so it was an important wicket and I enjoyed it,” he added.
