Fawad Alam is back into Pakistan’s 16 man squad for the Srilanka test series by replacing Iftikhar Ahmed. Fawad Alam lastly featured in a test in 2009, on the other hand, Young Pakistan bowler, Mohammad Musa has been replaced by pacer Usman Shinwari. Usman is yet to make his Test debut, who has been participated in 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is.
The left-handed batsmen scores since November, in first-class cricket, have been 29*, 107, 65, 211 and 116.

In 2009 Fawad Alam had made his Test debut for Pakistan where he played in three matches at a batting average of 41 Since then, Fawad Alam has not been picked in the Test side, but he has shown impressive performance in domestic cricket by scoring 34 centuries at an average of 56.84.
Misbah ul Haq, head coach Pakistan cricket team and chief selector said, “Fawad Alam’s selection is not based on just one year. It is an accumulation of his performances over five to six years. He has a career average of 57 and is in great form right now as well.”
“Another change is Usman Shinwari. We have struggled a little bit with bowling and Usman Shinwari’s bowling and energy, even on flat pitches here, has been good.”
