#4 Sachin Tendulkar vs Michael Kasprowicz
India was all about one man in the 90s. Sachin Tendulkar was so ahead of the pack that it needed something special from him all the time for India to win. In a virtual semifinal against Australia in Sharjah in the Coca-Cola cup in 1998, India had to chase more than 6 pro to qualify. They had a desert storm to contend as well. Tendulkar braved it all. He entered zen-mode in his quest to take India into the finals.
Michael Kasprowicz, a clever operator was tasked to contain the little master. But Tendulkar belted a straight six right into the sight screen. Tony Greig, calling the commentary couldn’t believe what we was witnessing. Tendulkar was so special that night. He not only took India to the finals but also won it with a magnificent century!
#3 Yuvraj Singh vs Brett Lee
It was the semifinal of the T20 World Cup in 2007. India won the toss batted first. Australia kept a tight leash on the proceedings. At the 8-over mark, India was 41-2. Yuvraj Singh had missed the previous game walked into the crease. After settling in he took on Brett Lee, who was brought for a second spell. Lee bowled fast and at the stumps, Yuvraj nonchalantly flicked the ball into deep square leg region. The ball travelled many a mile into the stands. It was a 119-metre six that remained a T20 World Cup record for quite some time.

#2 Sachin Tendulkar vs Shoaib Akhtar
India was chasing a competitive score against arch rivals, Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup. Tendulkar got the run-chase going with a back foot punch off Wasim Akram in the first over. Shoaib Akhtar was all charged up bowling the second over. He fired in a thunderbolt wide outside off stump at a good length.
Tendulkar standing still in the crease flayed his arms and cut him over point for a stunning six. The Indian contingent in Centurion was delirious. This shot from Tendulkar set the victory in motion. It remained the best shot for almost two decades until one player bettered that effort.
#1 Virat Kohli vs Haris Rauf
India’s chances appeared bleak in their opening game against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup. They lost 4 wickets in just the first powerplay. Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya then put on a fighting partnership but the ask was steep. Pandya who wrested the initiative lost his rhythm in the last 5 overs. Kohli picked up 17 from the Shaheen Afridi over to reduce the equation to 31 off 12. But Pandya still couldn’t connect in the penultimate over.
India’s chance of winning at 18.4 overs was 3%. They needed an improbable 29 from 8. It is herein where Kohli brought out his genius. He hit a back off a length Haris Rauf delivery right over his head for a towering six. Kohli’s legendary six still seems unreal almost a year later too!
