England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan has named the 2019 world cup finals where his team clashed with New Zealand the most dramatic match of cricket.
England Won Based On The Number Of Boundaries
In the match, England was decided as the winner based on the boundary-countback rule as both the teams ended up at equal scores despite playing a super-over.
And hence the English team went on to win their first 50-over world cup under Morgan’s captaincy.
The 50-over match and the super-over finished in tie and England were declared as winners as it has scored more boundaries than the New Zealand team.
In the 2015 world cup England faced a humiliating result as it was knocked out of the tournament in the group stages itself. But it bounced back and went on to win the world cup four years later after reforming the team.
Morgan said he feels amazing about the transformation as it was a brilliant journey and it was possible because of the support of some very senior players and supporting staff.
“2015 World Cup Performance By England Was Exciting”
“It feels amazing. I think the journey that we went on is probably the most exciting. In 2015, the embarrassing nature in which we were bundled out of that World Cup and the journey we embarked on to try and change the brand of cricket that we played with a new group of extremely talented players over the course of 4 years – it’s brilliant. Just being able to impart some of my knowledge and experience along with some very senior players and a group of great support staff who always continue to question what we do in a good way in order to hold us accountable,” he said as quoted in the official website of Kolkata Knight Riders, the team he plays for in IPL.
“It sort of culminated in last year’s World Cup. The final was the most dramatic game of cricket and the best game of cricket that probably has ever been played which contributes to the hype of it.
