Hosts England will take on 2nd ranked India in the 2nd Test match of the 5-match Test series at the home of cricket, Lords in London. The match will commence on Thursday, August 12 at 03:30 PM IST. Here are ENG vs IND Dream11 Predictions For 2nd Test.
ENG vs IND Dream11 Predictions: Preview
England’s form:
England team looked clueless batting first in the first innings of the first Test. Joe Root, their skipper was the only one who managed to score a half-century. The other batters looked devoid of ideas to play Test cricket. England came back strong in their 2nd essay thanks to a blazing Root ton. They crossed the 300-run mark in the 2nd innings mainly owing to their skipper’s 109. Sam Curran was the 2nd highest scorer with 32. England will surely need a better batting effort heading into the next game. They might be forced to make a couple of changes to their batting lineup. The return of Moeen Ali and Haseeb Hameed looks imminent.
It was their bowling that was touted to be their biggest strength. To be fair, their bowlers didn’t disappoint. James Anderson crossed Anil Kumble’s tally of 619 wickets during the first innings. He set up the game beautifully by dismissing Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli in two successive balls. Ollie Robinson impressed everyone with his discipline and skill. He will be a major threat at a venue like Lords. Stuart Broad suffered a niggle and he might miss the game. Craig Overton or Mark Wood can come in for Broad.
India’s form:
India might consider themselves unlucky as they missed out on a well-deserved win in the first Test. They clearly overcame the 2 big talking points of the WTC finals. The first being cleaning up the tail and 2nd for their tail to wag. India handsomely succeeded in doing both these things. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul look assured in both innings. This will give the team a huge sigh of relief. But India’s main batting problem is with their Test mainstays. Pujara, Kohli, and Rahane combined scored 9 runs in the first innings. India might have pushed for a big win had these 3 arrived at the party. The Indian team will be hoping for them to come good. India might go with an unchanged batting lineup for this game.
Indian bowling showcased its class, especially in the first innings. Their pace bowling quartet delivered in unison. India would have expected more from Mohammad Shami in the 2nd innings. He was quite a downer when the pitch eased out. India will also want Mohammad Siraj to channelise his aggression on the game. He appeared to have gotten carried away in the heat of the moment. But what pleased the Indian fans most was the sensational return to form of Jasprit Bumrah. He was brilliant right through the Test. Shardul Thakur playing in as the 4th seamer ably supported Bumrah whenever India needed a breakthrough.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s shocking omission did leave a lot of tongues wagging. He is expected to warm the bench as India continues to warm up to Jadeja’s batting. India might consider bringing in Ishant Sharma in place of either Siraj or Shami. But for a change, the team may remain unchanged.
