DY Patil T20 Tournament
DY Patil T20 tournament is the invitation tournament going to held in Mumbai from Monday. This will be the 16th season of the tournament. And it is basically utilized by the Indian players to get themselves ready for the Indian Premier League.
This time it is going to be different, as it will also serve as a selection approach for the three-match ODI series against South Africa which will be played between 12th to 18th March 2020.
The top players of the Indian team like Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will look to showcase their form and fitness as they are returning back to action in the DY Patil T20 tournament.
Pandya, Dhawan And Bhuvneshwar Kumar Returning Back
Hardik Pandya is one of the leading all-rounders for India and he hasn’t played any competitive cricket since September 2019. He underwent surgery for a back injury. And he was ruled out from India’s tour to New Zealand because of not passing the necessary fitness test.
Shikhar Dhawan is also returning back to action after recovering from a shoulder injury – which happened during the ODI series against Australia. Now he is going to play in the Reliance 1 team along with Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
The right-arm bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar had also gone through a surgery for Hernia. Last year he was excluded from the ODI series against West Indies but now he is all set to play his first competitive cricket in two months.
Zaheer Khan In The Tournament
The former fast bowler of India, Zaheer Khan will also play in the tournament along with James Pamment. Both of them are now part of the coaching staff of Mumbai Indians. Zaheer is the director of the Mumbai team and Pamment is the fielding coach.
Recently Zaheer Khan was awarded as the country’s fourth-highest civilian honor Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cricket.
