As India won the third T20I by 30 runs and the series 2-1 against Bangladesh, Team India pacer Deepak Chahar on Sunday has become the first Indian player to get a hat-trick in the final over. The 27-year-old reached the feat by picking the wickets of Aminul Islam, Shafiul Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman. Chahar ended with figures of 7/6 which is also an all-time best in the T20Is. He broke the previous record of Sri Lanka spinner Ajantha Mendis (8/6).
The match began with Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah winning the toss and electing to field first. After winning the toss, Bangladesh asked India to bat first. The Men in Blue were initially in trouble after Shafiul Islam removed Rohit and Shikhar early but Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul smashed sublime half-centuries to propel India to 174 for five.
After the Indian cricket team’s batting, Deepak Chahar gave India the perfect start after he removed Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar. Chahar also got a hat-trick and claimed six wickets in the match. These were also the best figures for a bowler in T20I. After this, Mohammad Naim and Mohammad Mithun steadied the innings for the Tigers. Naim went on to smash a brilliant 81.
Shivam Dube, who made his international debut in this series, also bowled well and claimed three wickets in the match. This was team India’s first series win this home season. Now, the Men in Blue will face the Tigers in a two-match Test series.
