CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan Confirms That No Request Has Been Made By Moeen Ali To Remove Beer Brand Logo
People in social media have hit back, saying that when playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the spin-bowling all-rounder had no objections promoting the Royal Challenge Whisky brand.
Earlier, there were some reports doing rounds claiming that Ali wants the logo of SNJ 1000, a beer brand of Chennai-based SNJ Distilleries, to be removed. Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan spoke to IANS on Sunday, April 4 and clarified that there was no request from Ali.
“There has been no request made by Moeen to CSK to remove any logo”, said the CSK CEO. Usually, players object against the use of alcohol brands’ logo on their jersey only because of their religious faith”.
Moeen, who was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad last season, was roped in by Chennai Super Kings in the player auction earlier this year for a whopping Rs 7 crore. He will be donning the CSK yellow for the first time in the league and is expected to play a crucial role for the franchise in the new season.
The England all-rounder has so far played 19 matches in his IPL career where he has amassed 309 runs at an average of 20.60 and an impressive strike rate of 158.46. He might be playing at number 6 position over Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
Moeen had recently lavished praise on Dhoni and said the CSK skipper is a great leader who improves his players with his leadership qualities.
“I think what differentiates CSK from other teams is actually how they structure everything — from the squad they have to the way they do things. They look a very calm franchise that doesn’t panic,” Moeen had told CSK’s website.
Chennai now has 5 different spinning options with the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, K Gowtham, Moeen Ali, Imran Tahir and Mitchell Santner. MS Dhoni will have a decision to make and we will see this in their first match vs Delhi Capitals on 10th April 2021.
