The Indian Premier League’s 2nd leg will begin on 19th September in the United Arab Emirates. Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel believes Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore would be worried heading into the competition and RCB and CSK Need momentum which they had in 1st Phase of the IPL.
In the Indian stage of the game, CSK has had a promising start. They’ve won 5 of their 7 games and are presently in 2nd place in the standings. CSK’s players, on the other hand, haven’t got sufficient playing time, according to Parthiv Patel.
“Definitely I think there would be jitters in CSK’s mind, there would be jitters in RCB’s mind. You know we’re talking about teams like CSK, they wanted games behind their back, someone like Dhoni, like Raina, Like Rayudu, like Robin Uthappa, they’re not playing cricket throughout the year, but they’re just getting into the groove and they got this break,” said Parthiv Patel.
Teams like RCB need that momentum to start the tournament: Parthiv
RCB, unlike every year, had a good start to the season. During the first quarter of the IPL, the side appeared to be in complete control. Given the team’s recent record, the cricketing world and fans have placed their expectations on RCB to win the maiden IPL title. Patel, on the other hand, believes that the unit has to gather momentum to begin the competition.
“And teams like RCB you know, they need that momentum to start the tournament which they had, so I think these are the two teams RCB and CSK which would be thinking ‘Oh okay we’ll go again, and start from scratch,” Patel asserted.
He also claimed that the clubs at the bottom of the standings will see it as an opportunity to come back stronger. And the elite clubs will be eager to get off to a good start once more.
“This break for teams which are at 4,5,6 they would be thinking that they have a chance to come back and teams who are in the 2nd or 3rd would be thinking that they have to start well again,” Parthiv added.
The IPL’s league stage concludes on 08th October, with the qualifying one taking place on 10th October and the eliminator on 11th October. The second qualifier will take place on 13th October, with the final match scheduled for 15th October.
