The second leg of the IPL 2021 will begin on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates. The teams have already arrived in the UAE and have started their practice sessions before the tournament’s kickoff. Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has shared his opinion on the team’s standings in the competition. Here is what Gautam Gambhir has to say about CSK And RCB.
Gautam Gambhir About CSK And RCB
CSK and RCB are in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, in the points table. During 1st phase of the IPL, two teams have experienced a great start to their games. Gambhir believes that considering their great spot, CSK and RCB can stand to lose a few games in the 2nd leg. Other clubs like KKR, Punjab Kings, and SRH, can’t lose many games if they want to reach the playoffs.
SRH can’t afford to lose a single game if they want to qualify for the playoff: Gambhir
“See from CSK & RCB’s point of view, I think they’ve gotten themselves into a position where they can actually afford to lose a couple of games. So that’s the reason why I said Punjab Kings can’t afford to do that, KKR can’t afford to do that”.
“Sunrisers can’t afford to lose a single game if they want to qualify for the playoff and that’s the reason why they probably will still have an advantage especially CSK and RCB because they’ve brought themselves up to that position,” said Gambhir.
The Mumbai Indians are the IPL’s current champions. Last year, when the event was fully hosted in the UAE, they achieved their 5th title. As a result, Gambhir believes that this will provide the club an advantage. He also claimed that MI has a chance to finish in the top 2 teams and that the group will have a benefit in the 2nd leg.
“See again, Mumbai probably will be having that advantage, because first they’ve won it last time in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in UAE and they’re going back to the same place and they’re in a position where they can actually finish in the top two as well”.
“If you look at other franchises especially franchises like KKR or for that matter even Sunrisers (SRH), it’s pretty difficult for them to qualify or for that matter even Punjab Kings. But if you ask me one franchise who’s going to have an advantage with this break, is Mumbai Indians,” Gambhir added.
