Veteran Indian batsman Manish Pandey returned to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s playing XI after missing a couple of games in the ongoing VIVO Indian Premier League. 31-year-old Pandey was dropped by the sectors due to his slow-paced innings in the first three games. The right-handed batsman managed to score unbeaten 61 and 38 but with a very poor strike rate. However, Manish made a comeback in SRH’s side in their Wednesday night clash against CSK.

IPL 2021: SRH Head Coach Speaks About Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey yet again failed to press the gas when he took on the field against CSK. Pandey played a safe inning of 46-ball 62 runs. However, SRH needed him to accelerate his innings as David Warner was seen struggling from the other end. SRH handed a modest score of 172 runs for CSK to chase. CSK won the clash with 7 wickets and 9 balls in hand.

SRH’s head coach Trevor Bayliss, in a post-match interview, revealed the reason behind Pandey’s exit from the 4th and 5th match of the tournament. Bayliss said that it was totally the selectors’ decision to keep him out of the games.

“Yes, that was certainly the selectors’ choice. It was felt that that wicket (Chepauk) didn’t suit Manish with the ball stopping and spinning. But (we knew) he would come back into the calculations on a wicket like here in Delhi, and he showed tonight what a good player he is.” said Bayliss.

“Hopefully, from here on in, if the wickets are going to be similar, we know what sort of damaging player he can be,” Bayliss was quoted as saying after the match against the Chennai Super Kings.
