Jasprit Bumrah is still expected to show up in Australia to compete in the T20 World Cup, according to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. Bumrah ruled out of the current three-match T20I series against South Africa. He is currently National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to undergo scans on his back.
Ganguly on Friday said that “Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet.” A final decision will come in the “next two or three days”. Saurav also said that he is keeping his “fingers crossed” in this regard.
Bumrah recently made a comeback for the T20Is against Australia earlier this month. He missed the Asia Cup due to back problems. Bumrah is currently back in the care of the NCA’s medical staff. He hasn’t been completely disqualified from the T20 World Cup, but there are serious questions about his participation. Chahar and Mohammad Shami are likely to replace him in the main squad.
India’s Travel Plans to Australia
The Indian squad is scheduled to go to Australia on October 6. This is two days after the T20I series against South Africa is over. A second-string team for the three One-Day Internationals against South Africa from October 6–11 is likely to be announced. The team will most likely be led by Shikhar Dhawan. The WC squad will participate in a training camp leading up to the T20 World Cup.
Prior to traveling to Brisbane for two further warm-up games against Australia and New Zealand India will continue to train in Perth till October 13. The team will also play a practice match against Western Australia during the training period.
India has put a lot of effort into getting ready for the T20 World Cup. The team has spent the last three months traveling. They have played T20Is in places like Ireland, England, the Caribbean, and the United Arab Emirates in addition to their home series against Australia and South Africa.
India in T20 WC 2022
India is in Group 2 with Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, and two qualifiers. Following their October 23 encounter against Pakistan at the MCG. They will play on October 27 against a qualifier in Sydney, and on October 30, there will be match against South Africa in Perth and on November 2 against Bangladesh in Adelaide. O November 6 the team will play against a qualifier in Melbourne.
