Biggest Drop In Salary For IPL 2022
#5 Manish Pandey [Lost: 6.4 Crores]
Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Manish Pandey for a whopping INR 11 crores in 2018 mega auctions. Pandey for all his T20 skills flattered to deceive in orange colors. He hardly won games for the side, a facet he was bought for in the side.
It was widely speculated that SRH will release Pandey ahead of the auction. SRH did release him but Pandey was still expected to fetch a good number in the auctions. But Lucknow managed to pluck Pandey for the sum of INR 4.6 crores. It meant a drop of INR 6.4 crores for Pandey.
#4 Riley Meredith [Lost: 7 Crores]
Punjab Kings picked Riley Meredith amidst a lot of hype. They shelled out INR 8 crores for him in the 2021 auction. Meredith had a season to forget as he was clobbered across the season. There were very few takers for him initially in the 2022 mega auction. He finally found a buyer in Mumbai Indians who acquired him for a paltry sum of INR 1 crore. It meant a pay cut of INR 7 crores.
#3 Pat Cummins [Lost: 8.25 Crores]
Kolkata Knight Riders set the auction on fire in 2020 when they splashed INR 15.50 crores on Pat Cummins. He became the league’s most expensive overseas player until Chris Morris broke his record a year later. Cummins had a decent couple of seasons with KKR. He was nowhere near his spectacular best. It was expected that Cummins would go for an amount slightly lower than his earlier salary. But when KKR picked him for INR 7.25 crores, it was a big steal! Cummins lost out on INR 8.25 crores.
