Virat Kohli has grabbed the attention in almost all the headlines after his marvelous innings in the first T20I international match against West Indies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Kohli has scored an unbeaten 94 runs which made India achieve a 6-wicket win over the Windies team and gave his country a 1-0 lead in the ongoing three-match series. Kohli has given 6 sixes and 6 fours, and though the wickets were falling on the other end, he maintained his form to make the match going on.
This is being incidentally that Virat Kohli becomes an individual player to score in T20Is and is able to suppress his previous best record of 90. However, there was a scene when Kohli showed the competitive phase of his game. The moment when Kohli smashed the Windies bowler, Kesrick Williams for 23 runs in the 16th over and also got some time to tease the windies pacer with his trademark “notebook” celebration after hitting him for a six. This was the team India captain’s reaction: –
Big B Gave His Comment On Virat Kohli’s Marvelous Performance:
Bollywood Megastar and legend Amitabh Bachchan was also left surprised with Kohli’s performance and praised the Indian captain and the team for winning this match for his country. Bachchan also warned the Windies bowlers not to mock Virat by using an analogy from his movie ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’.
The Superstar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted in Hindi that, “Yaar, how many times I have told you that, not to tease Virat, but you did not listen to me, now see he gave you a perfect reply, look at West Indies’ face, how much he rattled them with due respects to Anthony Bhai.” Virat was also quickly reacted to appreciate Big B’s tweet as he said, ‘Haha I love the dialogue, Sir. You are always being an inspiration.’
After the match got over Kohli explained why he chose to replicate Williams during the match. He said that cricket is all about playing hard and give the best, but in the end, it is important to have respect for your opponent teams. Williams previously had given Kohli a ‘notebook-style’ goodbye in 2017 after grabbing his wicket and Kohli chose to return it back to him.
“No, it is not the CPL. It happened to me in Jamaica when he got me out so I thought I would tick a few in the notebook as well but all good, smiles out there, in the end, that’s what you want to see, good competitive cricket but at the end of the day we shake hands, that’s what cricket is all about, play hard but at the end have respect for your opponents,” Kohli gave this statement at the post-match ceremony.
India will have a golden opportunity to grab this series when they will come to face the West Indies team in the second T20I match on Sunday, December 8.
