Keeping The Current Situation At Indo China Border A Decision Would Be Taken Said Rajeev Shukla:
In a recent interaction IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said that it would be in the interest of the country and cricket that this year IPL gets suspended. And that BCCI (Board Cricket Control Of India) management is monitoring the situation and would take an apt decision.
“As far as IPL is concerned, they are keeping an eye on this and will take a proper decision on it. We need to see our country’s benefit, whatever will be in our country’s interest and cricket,” Shukla told a leading sports website.
“They ‘re going to take the right step, there’s no worry, they ‘re going to make a good decision, keeping everything in mind. I don’t think we should comment on anything before the decision,” he added.
Because of the coronavirus crisis, the 13th edition of the IPL, which was scheduled to begin on March 29, has been postponed for ever.
The IPL Governing Council of the BCCI has decided to suspend the IPL 2020 Season until further notice due to the evolving global health concerns regarding COVID-19 and lockdown measures implemented by the Government of India to contain the spread of the pandemic.
The nation’s health and safety and all those involved in our great sport remain our top priority and as such, the BCCI, together with the franchise owners, broadcasters, sponsors and all stakeholders, recognize that the IPL 2020 season will only begin when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
In close cooperation with all its stakeholders, BCCI will continue to track and evaluate the situation regarding a possible start date and will continue to take advice from the Government of India, State Governments and other State regulatory bodies, to ensure that the game takes place in a healthy environment.
