The Indian Cricket Board praises Virat Kohli on an amazing career as Team India’s Test Skipper. The BCCI as well as the selection panel accept his choice to step down as captain and are certain that he will keep contributing as a player and serve Indian cricket to reach new levels.

Virat Kohli has become India’s most successful Test skipper. Since taking over from MS Dhoni, he has captained India in 68 Test matches, winning 40 of them with an overall record of 58.82. As Test skipper, he led India to its 1st series win versus Sri Lanka in 2015, a success in the Emerald Island following 22 years.

During his stint, Team India also made history by winning their 1st Test series in Australia in 2018, clinching series in the West Indies, rising to the top of the Test rankings, and marching into the inaugural ICC World Test Championship Final in 2021. Kohli also has an impressive record as a skipper, having won 24 of the 31 Tests played at home while losing only 2.
