Morgan and Jos Buttler to Issue Public Apology

The Cricket Board in England and Wales received screenshots of insulting Indians from Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler. What makes matters worse for Morgan and Jos Buttler is that their historical tweets are only a few years old and were sent when they were well-known cricketers. And, Morgan and Jos buttler are yet to issue the public apology.

The issue involving Morgan and Buttler may have an impact on the reputation of their respective IPL teams, the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. An official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) spoke out about the situation, stating that English cricketers insulting Indians while making money from the IPL will not go well with many players.

Morgan and Joss Buttler Older Tweets

“KKR and RR will be in a fix as these are players earning from Indian Premier League and as late as 2017 were making fun of how Indians speak English. Now you can be dismissive of these posts but this also speaks about what their general perception about Indians is. It’s a tricky terrain but both KKR and Royals have a way out,” the senior BCCI official said as quoted by Times of India on conditions of anonymity.

The franchises should also suspend both players from the rest of the 14th season of the IPL

In addition, the BCCI official suggested that if KKR and RR are concerned about their brand image, Buttler and Morgan should give a public apology. The franchises should also suspend both players from the rest of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League, according to the official (IPL).

Suspending both players will have no consequences, since the ECB has already ruled out sending England players to the rest of the IPL 2021 because to their busy international schedule. Morgan should also be suspended by KKR since he has failed to deliver any positive outcomes as a leader or finisher.

“Firstly, if Shah Rukh Khan and Manoj Badale are mindful of their respective franchises’ image, a statement of apology from both Morgan and Buttler would suffice. Now with ECB not allowing them for the second phase of IPL due to their own commitments, the suspension would count for very little. You are suspending players who are not coming for the second phase. It will be mere posturing,” the official concluded.
