BCB Has Decided To Stop Individual Practice Sessions For Three Days:
The Bangladesh Cricket Board decided to suspend individual practice sessions for three days as part of the COVID-19 precaution, with some of the support staff showing symptoms.
The BCB was initially hesitant to allow cricketers to practice but eventually agreed on the insistence of a few national cricketers as they were eager to start training to prepare for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
“This was an individual training session and we thought we’d stop it if we see any kind of threat,” said BCB Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury on Thursday (September 3). “It was in our medical strategy that we would take a break if some situation occurs to compel us to do so. We figured out that some of them had symptoms, so we agreed to postpone practicing for a few days.”
“Initially, everyone followed the rules, but that was not the case in the latter part of the session. We want to make sure that we are vigilant to the highest order before the tour of Sri Lanka,” Chowdhury added.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is organizing a week-long residential camp in advance of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. The residential camp is scheduled to begin on September 21, while the BCB will be performing a COVID-19 test in three phases ahead of the trip.
The Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka scheduled for July-August was postponed due to the COVID-19 situation. Bangladesh is expected to fly to Sri Lanka on September 27 for the three-test series scheduled to start in Kandy on October 24.
