Clarke produced 408 runs with a strike rate of 180.53 in T20 Blast, and he also produced a 136-run stint in 65 balls. He is recognized as one of the top batters in English cricket. He had been a BBL substitute player for the Perth Scorchers in the previous season.

Therefore, in the forthcoming BBL, he must assume the job of a full-time wicket-keeper. Seb Gotch, the Stars’ wicket-keeper, is out with a finger injury and will be out of the competition this season. It should be noted that Clarke has played for 11 times in his pro career. He has played 5 T20s for the Karachi Kings this season, all within the PSL. Nottinghamshire’s usual keeper is Tom Moores, while Clarke has only played in one game so far this season.

I went to Pakistan to play in the PSL and was keeping for that: Clarke

Joe Clarke admits that he is not even at the frontline of keeping, but he is capable of doing the job for the Melbourne Stars. He’ll have to work with spinners like Qais Ahmad and Adam Zampa.

“Obviously my keeping was something that has sort of been on the on the backburner last couple of years,” Clarke said.

“I went to Pakistan to play in the Pakistan Super League and was keeping for that, it’s something that I’m looking forward to doing as well over here.”

The Melbourne Stars do not even have a full-time wicket-keeping crew, therefore David Hussey and Ben Rohrer stand-in. Clarke believes that he is having a good time dealing with them.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with them so far,” Clarke said. “Although obviously [they] didn’t do too much with keeping in their day, [they] just facilitate with me and do the drills that I do back home and stuff like that and just make me feel as best prepared as I can be.”

Joe Clarke, according to Head Coach David Hussey, is poised to have an unbelievable opening combo with Marcus Stoinis.

“Joe Clarke’s been outstanding for Notts for many a year opening the batting,” Hussey said. “So hopefully they gel very, very quickly and they can open the batting and set a nice foundation for our middle order players.”
