On Thursday, the New President of HCA (Hyderabad Cricket Association), Mohammad Azharuddin, said he would address the allegations of corruption made by Indian former cricketer Ambati Rayudu after the association hosts the opening match of T20 series between India and West Indies which is scheduled to take place at Rajiv Gandhi international cricket stadium on December 6.
Recently, Former cricketer, Ambati Rayudu had urged Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister of Telangana KT Rama Rao to look into “rampant corruption prevailing in HCA” and urged Azharuddin to “isolate himself from the seasoned crooks.”
In a press conference on Thursday, the HCA president said that presently his focus was only on the upcoming match.
Azharuddin wanted media to strictly report the game and assured them that another press conference would be organized after December 6 when he would look into and address the allegations that were made.
On Saturday, Ambati Rayudu had tweeted, “How can Hyderabad be great when it’s cricket team is influenced by money and corrupt people who have numerous ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) cases against them which are being swept under the carpet?”
When reporters asked to respond to Rayudu’s comments, Azharuddin was later quoted as saying that Rayudu was a “frustrated cricketer.” In response, Ambati Rayudu took to Twitter again last Sunday, and tweeted, “Hi @azharflicks let’s not make it personal. The issue is bigger than us. We both know what’s going on in HCA. You have a god-given opportunity to clean up Hyderabad cricket. I strongly urge you to isolate yourself from the seasoned crooks. You will be saving generations of future cricketers (sic.).”
During the World Cup 2019, former cricketer Ambati Rayudu had announced his retirement, but a few months later, he went back on his decision and said that he was open to playing national cricket as well as the Indian Premier League.
