Australia retains top ranking onto T20 cricket with a win on Tuesday:
In the final match of a series with England, Australia held the top T20 ranking with a five-wicket victory on Tuesday (08-09-2020), which has already clinched.
At the Rose Bowl, when Australia chased down the target of 146 runs, Mitch March ended with unbeaten 39 runs and hit the winning runs with three balls to spare.
When England was leading the three-match T20 series by 2-0, they took the no.1 spot provisionally but to hold the top spot, they required a clean sweep.
The T20 series has given a hint towards the return of Australia to international cricket after a long break. After hosting West Indies, Ireland, and Pakistan, now England will play a three-match ODI series with Australia.
On Tuesday, in the final T20 match between England and Australia, the opening batsman of England Jonny Bairstow started very slowly and scored 55 runs in 44 balls with the help of 3 boundaries and three sixes and took the side to 145 runs with the loss of 6 wickets. Till now, that was the lowest score in the whole series. Mitchell Starc, the Australia paceman conceded only 20 runs in his four overs.
Joe Danyl’s score, 29 runs in 19 balls provided some respect to England total, but Australia in the first seven overs went at 10 runs per over and win the match easily.
But, the Australians slipped from 70-1 to 100-5 in just six overs and its middle-order collapsed. Captain Aaron Finch scored 39 runs, Glenn Maxwell made 6 runs and Steve Smith went to the pavilion by scoring just 3 runs.

Australia skipper Aaron Finch said “We know quite well that where we did the mistake in the first match but today we did really well once again for the maximum of the match. It was good Ashton and Mitch helped us to got over the line this time. There is always scope for development, particularly in those middle overs while facing the spinners.”
