Indian team created history today as they registered a stunning historic win against Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane. India not only breached the fortress Gabba but also won its second consecutive Test series in Australia. The Australians had set India a total of 328 with a maximum of 100 overs. Nobody gave the Indian team a chance to win this game as everyone thought that Aussies will steamroll India on the final day. But India silenced all his detractors with this famous win.

Once Virat Kohli departed after playing the first Test, wherein India were bundled out for 36 in just a session, everybody had written off India. India, unfortunately, started losing many of their key players be it Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Hanuma Vihari.
But India never lost sight of the bigger vision. They had set foot on Australian soil envisioning a series win and they were ready to tackle whatever came their way. This win was built collectively by all the players who got a game throughout the series. The team was admirably led by stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli.
The enormity of this win is yet to sink in among millions of people around the world. But the Indian team continued to win hearts when they collectively signed a jersey for Nathan Lyon who was playing in his 100th Test match. The BCCI, the parent body of Indian cricket in an outstanding gesture has decided to award the winning Indian team with Rs. 5 crores bonus. BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, and secretary Jay Shah congratulated the Indian team for their spellbinding victory over the Aussies. Ganguly mentioned that wins like these don’t come too often. It is important to recognize and reward the efforts put in by the players, supporting staff, and team management.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi couldn’t control his joy and he too tweeted praising the Indian team for their never-say-die attitude.
This win couldn’t have come at a better time for the Indians who have been reeling under the pandemic and the Covid-19 virus. It is sure to uplift the spirit of fellow Indians around the world.
