Krishnappa Gowtham was one of the highest sellers in this year’s IPL auction. The former Rajasthan Royals’ player garnished a total of 9.25 crore in the recently conducted IPL auction, which made him the most expensive uncapped player in the history of the Indian cash-rich league. Gowtham will ply his trade with Chennai Super Kings this season and Karnataka’s all-rounder is looking forward to playing under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
IPL 2021: Gowtham is looking forward to his CSK journey
Gowtham made a name for himself while playing for RR since 2018. In his maiden season for RR, the 32-year-old picked a total of 11 wickets. He scored a total of 9 sixes and as many fours in his first IPL season. However, the star couldn’t continue his form in the following two seasons. Gowtham played a total of 7 games in 2019 and only managed to pick one wicket. He was released by RR in the following season and was picked by Punjab Kings. Gowtham, however, managed to play only two games for the Punjab based franchise.
Nevertheless, Gowtham is not sinking under the pressure of his heavy price tag. He, in fact, insisted that it is a dream come true moment for him to play with MS Dhoni. Gowtham stated that bowlers love playing under Dhoni and that the CSK skipper brings out the best from them.
“I don’t feel any pressure of expectations playing for a champion side like CSK. In fact, it’s a dream come true for me to be playing under Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni). Bowlers love playing under Mahi bhai because he understands a bowler’s strengths and knows how to get the best out of him,” Krishnappa Gowtham told CSK’s official website.
“The CSK management understands cricket owing to its long association with the game which again reflects in its approach to players the comforting words and confidence given when things aren’t going right,” he added.
