The T20 World Cup 2021 is the biggest cricket event this year. Teams are slowly building up for the World Cup. India played their last match before the mega event against Sri Lanka. There were many players who had an opportunity to impress but were flattered to deceive. They couldn’t have had better access than this series to impress but none of the promising players made a statement. let’s look at Indian Players Who Will Not Get Selected For T20 WC 2021
Indian Players Who Will Not Get Selected For T20 WC 2021
#5 Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the rare youngsters whose presence has a calming effect. To his credit, he did look assured during his brief stay in his debut T20I. But he needlessly threw away his wicket after getting a good start. His wicket seized India’s momentum and they found it tough to force the pace post his dismissal. Gaikwad failed in the 3rd T20I too. He already had a lot of contenders fighting for the opener’s slot and he is surely out of the race for now.
#4 Nitish Rana
Nitish Rana had a golden chance this series to register impactful performances. But he had a forgettable series against Sri Lanka. Rana looked out of depth in all his brief appearances at the crease. His body language on the field too left a lot to be desired. Rana was given the ball during the 3rd ODI but even then he couldn’t impress much. He wasn’t in the radar as much as the others but he surely let go of a golden opportunity.
#3 Devdutt Padikkal
There was a lot of hype and hoopla surrounding Devdutt Paddikal’s India debut. His left-handed batting ability brought in a different dimension to the team. But Paddikal couldn’t really seize the opportunity presented. He needed one big score in the 2 games he played. Paddikal did get off to a decent start in his debut game but couldn’t kick on post that. It has to be said the World Cup spot is beyond him.
#2 Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav played the last 2 T20Is. He did impress in the 2nd T20I especially in the first 3 overs he bowled. But Yadav’s same old problem of wilting under pressure copped up. His last over that went for over 13 runs in a low-scoring game eventually proved to be costly. Yadav failed to make an impact in the 3rd T20I. The Indian team would have expected more from him. But Yadav couldn’t really justify the faith shown in him.
#1 Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson’s struggles in international cricket have been well documented. There has been a lot of debate about how he didn’t get a consistent run in international cricket. But Samson’s inconsistency at the highest level has often provided a counterargument to that fact. He had a wonderful chance to silence all the critics with a solid showing. But Samson did anything but that. He wasted a start in the first T20I and struggled against the spin of Wanindu Hasaranga in the last couple of games. A World Cup 2021 spot is not his for the taking.
